Registration is now open for the 14th Annual ITS Workshop. This year’s workshop will be on May 15, 2013, starting at 8:30am. We hope you will join us and several instructors from the Canvas spring pilot for panel discussions and focused presentations on different tools and features available in Canvas. Canvas, the Learning Management System to replace SOCS, will be available to all faculty members for the Fall 2013 semester. Visit our Canvas pages to learn more.

Register for Canvas Basic Training provided by Instructional Technology Services

Basic Training is a 2 hour workshop that will introduce you to Canvas. Users will be taken through the process of setting up core components on their class in Canvas.

The following topics will be covered:

Canvas general navigation and use
Communicating through Canvas
Setting up your course in Canvas
Using the Modules tool
Creating Assignments
Creating Quizzes
Grading with Speed Grader

NJEDge.Net 14th Annual Faculty Showcase

Every spring NJEDge sponsors a day-long event at one of its member institutions to showcase faculty best practices. Targeted to educators from K-12, higher education, institutional research, and healthcare related teaching this is an opportunity for them to show their work to NJ colleagues.

The showcase features dynamic presentations and posters on technology-mediated instruction. This is an excellent arena for NJEDge members, faculty, researchers and professional staff to present on the newest applications and latest ideas about learning activities for on-ground and online courses.

Each presentation is 25 minutes in length; ideal for showing works-in-progress, student/faculty projects, or leading-edge research. Poster presentation is an effective because it allows participants to discuss informally their work with colleagues. At the faculty showcase there is designated slot for poster sessions. There is a poster contest where the winner gets an all paid pass to the annual conference.

The 14th Annual Faculty Showcase will be held at Georgian Court University, in Lakewood, New Jersey, on Friday, March 15th, 2013. The one day event starts at 8:30AM and ends 3:30PM.

Faculty professional staff from the New Jersey Higher Education community will demonstrate their innovative teaching and use of technology on campus, and on projects in collaboration with their colleagues from other schools.

The newly formed Academic Technology Group (ATG) sponsors the event. Our consortium’s EDge.Networks is grateful to the faculty and staff of Georgian Court for hosting our 14th showcase which has grown to be a “must attend” event for the spring.

Conference 9.0 – Call for Proposals Deadline for Proposals: June 4, 2012 NJEDge.Net Annual Conference November 28-30, 2012 Wyndham Conference Center Plainsboro, New Jersey Please submit your proposal for the 2012 NJEDge.Net annual conference. Conference 9.0 on Humanizing Technology is a forum for the NJ K-20 community to showcase, discuss and explore best practices on today’s campus. Course management is delivered online, hybrid, and sage on stage. Best practices in learning and innovation, policy, Web 2.0, assessment, research, social media all need human interaction with a medium. The learning community is organic because individuals use technology. Network and video services, system, architecture and engineering innovations require the same sort of scrutiny as the decisions for implementation, integration of emerging technologies affects the system that drives learning. The human factor is implicit in good teaching and robust infrastructure. Humanizing Technology is a conference that will address some of these issues that affect pedagogy, methodology and technology.

This Spring, Instructional Technology Services invites you to the new brown bag series, Websites Worth Sharing. Join Peter DePasquale and Ryan Gladysiewicz for the second session on March 13, 2012 in Social Sciences 225 @ 11:25am to 12:25pm, where they will introduce two websites that you may find useful for instruction, work or personal use.
